Before you ape, the first question
is always the same:
Who's the dev?

Whodev answers it for every pump.fun launch, in seconds. It reads the launching wallet's past coins and gives the dev one of five ranks. This page is the whole method.

01The five ranks

Every dev gets one of five ranks. The first rule that fits wins.

A coin counts as real when its traders paid at least 10 SOL in fees. Every rank below is built on that one test.

RankRuleScoreLaunches, 24h
Legend
Best real coin hit $1M+ ATH, or 3+ real coins.
85–100
—
Proven
Last launch migrated with real volume, or 2+ real coins.
65–84
—
Clean
One real coin. Also the ceiling for sprayers.
45–64
—
No record
Nothing to judge yet. A fresh wallet, or under 5 launches and none real.

—
Farmer
5+ launches and not one real coin.
1–9
—
Clean · sprayer
100+ launches with under 1% real. Capped at Clean, scored 30–44.
Launch bot
2,000+ launches: a script or a shared deployer, not one person's record. Listed after people.
Checking…
The record is being read, which takes a few seconds. No rank is shown before it is known.

Inside its band, the score weighs the best real coin's ATH (40%), how many real coins (25%), how many migrated (15%) and the hit rate (20%). The bands don't overlap, so a higher rank always scores higher, and a sprayer never outscores a normal Clean dev.

02Fees, not ATH

A bundle can paint any ATH. It cannot fake hundreds of traders paying fees.

ATH is one number, and one wallet can set it by buying its own coin. Fees come out of every trade, so they only add up when real people trade. Whodev reads each coin's lifetime volume from pump.fun's candles and counts about 1% of it as fees, in SOL at today's price.

volume, roughly
  • Which coins get checked

The dev's top 10 coins by ATH, plus their recent migrated ones. A smaller coin can't have paid 10 SOL in fees.

  • A count can be a floor

Only those coins are checked, so a long record can hold more real coins than it shows. 4+ means at least four.

  • Painted ATH left out

A chart a few wallets pushed up shows a big ATH and almost no trading. It never counts as a dev's best coin.

Fees are converted at the current SOL price, not the price on the day they were paid, so a coin right at the line can cross it as SOL moves.

03The one-hour rule

A dev is judged only on coins at least an hour old. The first hour is noise.

In its first hour a coin is snipers, bundles and the dev's own buys. So young coins wait, and a fresh launch never counts toward its own dev: you see the record they had before they launched it. A wallet with 5+ launches inside the hour is already a Farmer.

04Sprayers and bots

100+ launches and a hit rate under 1%? Capped at Clean.

Some wallets launch hundreds of coins and wait for one to stick. One hit in a few hundred is luck, not a record you can buy into. However big the hit, a sprayer never ranks above Clean, and scores lower inside it.

A wallet with 2,000+ launches is no person launching by hand: it is a script or a shared deployer. It is marked Launch bot, its record is not read as one dev's, and on the Devs board it sits after the people.

05Listing

A coin appears after 5 buys. The dev's own buy counts.

Most pump.fun launches are never bought by anyone. So a coin goes on the board, into alerts and onto Top coins only once it has 5 buys, and the dev's first buy is one of them. Until then it is not shown anywhere.

06Dev, not coin

Dev rank is the wallet's record. Not the coin's quality.

The rank next to a coin says who launched it and what their earlier coins did. A Legend can launch a dud and a fresh wallet can launch a runner. When a dev's rank was earned by the very coin you are looking at, Top coins says Rank from this coin.

Dev rank tells you

  • Who launched the coin
  • What their earlier coins did
  • Whether they farm launches

It does not tell you

  • Whether this coin is safe
  • Where its chart goes next
  • Who holds it

08FAQ

Fair questions.

Can a dev hide their history?
They can launch from a fresh wallet. It shows as No record, so hiding a bad history means giving up a good one.
How fast is it?
Usually within a minute or two of its 5th buy: that is when a coin shows up, and its dev's record is read as it lands. While it is read, the badge says Checking…
Why did a rank change?
Coins age past the hour, fees keep adding up and SOL's price moves, so records move. Each one is re-read every 20 minutes.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is a record, not a recommendation. Always do your own checks.
